Proverbs 23

Big screen
  1. 1When you sit to eat with a ruler, consider diligently what is before you:
    Big screen
  2. 2And put a knife to your throat, if you be a man given to appetite.
    Big screen
  3. 3Be not desirous of his dainties: for they are deceitful food.
    Big screen
  4. 4Labour not to be rich: cease from yours own wisdom.
    Big screen
  5. 5Will you set yours eyes upon that which is not? for riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven.
    Big screen
  6. 6Eat you not the bread of him that has an evil eye, neither desire you his dainty meats:
    Big screen
  7. 7For as he thinks in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, says he to you; but his heart is not with you.
    Big screen
  8. 8The morsel which you have eaten shall you vomit up, and lose your sweet words.
    Big screen
  9. 9Speak not in the ears of a fool: for he will despise the wisdom of your words.
    Big screen
  10. 10Remove not the old landmark; and enter not into the fields of the fatherless:
    Big screen
  11. 11For their redeemer is mighty; he shall plead their cause with you.
    Big screen
  12. 12Apply yours heart unto instruction, and yours ears to the words of knowledge.
    Big screen
  13. 13Withhold not correction from the child: for if you beat him with the rod, he shall not die.
    Big screen
  14. 14You shall beat him with the rod, and shall deliver his soul from hell.
    Big screen
  15. 15My son, if yours heart be wise, my heart shall rejoice, even mine.
    Big screen
  16. 16Yea, my reins shall rejoice, when your lips speak right things.
    Big screen
  17. 17Let not yours heart envy sinners: but be you in the fear of the LORD all the day long.
    Big screen
  18. 18For surely there is an end; and yours expectation shall not be cut off.
    Big screen
  19. 19Hear you, my son, and be wise, and guide yours heart in the way.
    Big screen
  20. 20Be not among winebibbers; among riotous eaters of flesh:
    Big screen
  21. 21For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty: and drowsiness shall clothe a man with rags.
    Big screen
  22. 22Hearken unto your father that brings forth you, and despise not your mother when she is old.
    Big screen
  23. 23Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding.
    Big screen
  24. 24The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice: and he that bring forths a wise child shall have joy of him.
    Big screen
  25. 25Your father and your mother shall be glad, and she that bare you shall rejoice.
    Big screen
  26. 26My son, give me yours heart, and let yours eyes observe my ways.
    Big screen
  27. 27For a whore is a deep ditch; and a strange woman is a narrow pit.
    Big screen
  28. 28She also lies in wait as for a prey, and increases the transgressors among men.
    Big screen
  29. 29Who has woe? who has sorrow? who has contentions? who has babbling? who has wounds without cause? who has redness of eyes?
    Big screen
  30. 30They that tarry long at the wine; they that go to seek mixed wine.
    Big screen
  31. 31Look not you upon the wine when it is red, when it gives his colour in the cup, when it moves itself aright.
    Big screen
  32. 32At the last it bites like a serpent, and stings like an adder.
    Big screen
  33. 33Yours eyes shall behold strange women, and yours heart shall utter perverse things.
    Big screen
  34. 34Yea, you shall be as he that lies down in the midst of the sea, or as he that lies upon the top of a mast.
    Big screen
  35. 35They have stricken me, shall you say, and I was not sick; they have beaten me, and I felt it not: when shall I awake? I will seek it yet again.
