2 Samuel 1

English: Now it came to pass after the death of Saul, when David was returned from the slaughter of the Amalekites, and David had abode two days in Ziklag;

Malayalam: ശൌൽ മരിക്കയും ദാവീദ് അമാലേക്യരെ സംഹരിച്ചു മടങ്ങിവന്നു സിക്ളാഗിൽ രണ്ടു ദിവസം പാർക്കയും ചെയ്ത ശേഷം

English: It came even to pass on the third day, that, behold, a man came out of the camp from Saul with his clothes rent, and earth upon his head: and so it was, when he came to David, that he fell to the earth, and did reverence.

Malayalam: മൂന്നാം ദിവസം ഒരു ആൾ വസ്ത്രം കീറിയും തലയിൽ പൂഴി വാരിയിട്ടുംകൊണ്ടു ശൌലിന്റെ പാളയത്തിൽനിന്നു വന്നു, ദാവീദിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ എത്തി സാഷ്ടാംഗം വീണു നമസ്കരിച്ചു.

English: And David said unto him, From whence come you? And he said unto him, Out of the camp of Israel am I escaped.

Malayalam: ദാവീദ് അവനോടു: നീ എവിടെ നിന്നു വരുന്നു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു: ഞാൻ യിസ്രായേൽ പാളയത്തിൽനിന്നു ഓടിപ്പോരികയാകുന്നു എന്നു അവൻ പറഞ്ഞു.

English: And David said unto him, How went the matter? I pray you, tell me. And he answered, That the people are fled from the battle, and many of the people also are fallen and dead; and Saul and Jonathan his son are dead also.

Malayalam: ദാവീദ് അവനോടു: കാര്യം എന്തായി? പറക എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അതിന്നു അവൻ: ജനം പടയിൽ തോറ്റോടി; ജനത്തിൽ അനേകർ പട്ടുവീണു; ശൌലും അവന്റെ മകനായ യോനാഥാനുംകൂടെ പട്ടുപോയി എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

English: And David said unto the young man that told him, How know you that Saul and Jonathan his son be dead?

Malayalam: വർത്തമാനം കൊണ്ടുവന്ന ബാല്യക്കാരനോടു ദാവീദ്: ശൌലും അവന്റെ മകനായ യോനാഥാനും പട്ടുപോയതു നീ എങ്ങനെ അറിഞ്ഞു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു

English: And the young man that told him said, As I happened by chance upon mount Gilboa, behold, Saul leaned upon his spear; and, lo, the chariots and horsemen followed hard after him.

Malayalam: വർത്തമാനം കൊണ്ടുവന്ന ബാല്യക്കാരൻ പറഞ്ഞതു: ഞാൻ യദൃച്ഛയാ ഗിൽബോവപർവ്വതത്തിലേക്കു ചെന്നപ്പോൾ ശൌൽ തന്റെ കുന്തത്തിന്മേൽ ചാരിനില്ക്കുന്നതും തേരും കുതിരപ്പടയും അവനെ തുടർന്നടുക്കുന്നതും കണ്ടു;

English: And when he looked behind him, he saw me, and called unto me. And I answered, Here am I.

Malayalam: അവൻ പിറകോട്ടു നോക്കി എന്നെ കണ്ടു വിളിച്ചു: അടിയൻ ഇതാ എന്നു ഞാൻ ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

English: And he said unto me, Who are you? And I answered him, I am an Amalekite.

Malayalam: നീ ആരെന്നു അവൻ എന്നോടു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു: ഞാൻ ഒരു അമാലേക്യൻ എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

English: He said unto me again, Stand, I pray you, upon me, and slay me: for anguish has come upon me, because my life is yet whole in me.

Malayalam: അവൻ എന്നോടു: നീ അടുത്തുവന്നു എന്നെ കൊല്ലേണം; എന്റെ ജീവൻ മുഴുവനും എന്നിൽ ഇരിക്കകൊണ്ടു എനിക്കു പരിഭ്രമം പിടിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

English: So I stood upon him, and slew him, because I was sure that he could not live after that he was fallen: and I took the crown that was upon his head, and the bracelet that was on his arm, and have brought them here unto my lord.

Malayalam: അതുകൊണ്ടു ഞാൻ അടുത്തുചെന്നു അവനെ കൊന്നു; അവന്റെ വീഴ്ചയുടെ ശേഷം അവൻ ജീവിക്കയില്ല എന്നു ഞാൻ അറിഞ്ഞിരുന്നു; അവന്റെ തലയിലെ കിരീടവും ഭുജത്തിലെ കടകവും ഞാൻ എടുത്തു ഇവിടെ യജമാനന്റെ അടുക്കൽ കൊണ്ടുവന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.

English: Then David took hold on his clothes, and rent them; and likewise all the men that were with him:

Malayalam: ഉടനെ ദാവീദ് തന്റെ വസ്ത്രം പറിച്ചുകീറി; കൂടെയുള്ളവരും അങ്ങനെ തന്നെ ചെയ്തു.

English: And they mourned, and wept, and fasted until even, for Saul, and for Jonathan his son, and for the people of the LORD, and for the house of Israel; because they were fallen by the sword.

Malayalam: അവർ ശൌലിനെയും അവന്റെ മകനായ യോനാഥാനെയും യഹോവയുടെ ജനത്തെയും യിസ്രായേൽഗൃഹത്തെയും കുറിച്ചു അവർ വാളാൽ വീണുപോയതുകൊണ്ടു വിലപിച്ചു കരഞ്ഞു സന്ധ്യവരെ ഉപവസിച്ചു.

English: And David said unto the young man that told him, Whence are you? And he answered, I am the son of a stranger, an Amalekite.

Malayalam: ദാവീദ് വർത്തമാനം കൊണ്ടുവന്ന ബാല്യക്കാരനോടു: നീ എവിടുത്തുകാരൻ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു: ഞാൻ ഒരു അന്യജാതിക്കാരന്റെ മകൻ, ഒരു അമാലേക്യൻ എന്നു അവൻ ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

English: And David said unto him, How were you not afraid to stretch forth yours hand to destroy the LORD's anointed?

Malayalam: ദാവീദ് അവനോടു: യഹോവയുടെ അഭിഷിക്തനെ സംഹരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു കയ്യോങ്ങുവാൻ നിനക്കു ഭയം തോന്നാഞ്ഞതു എങ്ങനെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

English: And David called one of the young men, and said, Go near, and fall upon him. And he stroke him that he died.

Malayalam: പിന്നെ ദാവീദ് ബാല്യക്കാരിൽ ഒരുത്തനെ വിളിച്ചു: നീ ചെന്നു അവനെ വെട്ടിക്കളക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

English: And David said unto him, Your blood be upon your head; for your mouth has testified against you, saying, I have slain the LORD's anointed.

Malayalam: അവൻ അവനെ വെട്ടിക്കൊന്നു. ദാവീദ് അവനോടു: നിന്റെ രക്തം നിന്റെ തലമേൽ; യഹോവയുടെ അഭിഷിക്തനെ ഞാൻ കൊന്നു എന്നു നീ നിന്റെ വായ് കൊണ്ടു തന്നെ നിനക്കു വിരോധമായി സാക്ഷീകരിച്ചുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

English: And David lamented with this lamentation over Saul and over Jonathan his son:

Malayalam: അനന്തരം ദാവീദ് ശൌലിനെയും അവന്റെ മകനായ യോനാഥാനെയും കുറിച്ചു ഈ വിലാപഗീതം ചൊല്ലി--

English: (Also he bade them teach the children of Judah the use of the bow: behold, it is written in the book of Jasher.)

Malayalam: അവൻ യെഹൂദാമക്കളെ ഈ ധനുർഗ്ഗീതം അഭ്യസിപ്പിപ്പാൻ കല്പിച്ചു; അതു ശൂരന്മാരുടെ പുസ്തകത്തിൽ എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ:-

English: The beauty of Israel is slain upon your high places: how are the mighty fallen!

Malayalam: യിസ്രായേലേ, നിന്റെ പ്രതാപമായവർ നിന്റെ ഗിരികളിൽ നിഹതന്മാരായി; വീരന്മാർ പട്ടുപോയതു എങ്ങനെ!

English: Tell it not in Gath, publish it not in the streets of Askelon; lest the daughters of the Philistines rejoice, lest the daughters of the uncircumcised triumph.

Malayalam: ഗത്തിൽ അതു പ്രസിദ്ധമാക്കരുതേ; അസ്കലോൻ വീഥികളിൽ ഘോഷിക്കരുതേ; ഫെലിസ്ത്യപുത്രിമാർ സന്തോഷിക്കരുതേ; അഗ്രചർമ്മികളുടെ കന്യകമാർ ഉല്ലസിക്കരുതേ.

English: All of you mountains of Gilboa, let there be no dew, neither let there be rain, upon you, nor fields of offerings: for there the shield of the mighty is vilely cast away, the shield of Saul, as though he had not been anointed with oil.

Malayalam: ഗിൽബോവപർവ്വതങ്ങളേ, നിങ്ങളുടെ മേൽ മഞ്ഞോ മഴയോ പെയ്യാതെയും വഴിപാടുനിലങ്ങൾ ഇല്ലാതെയും പോകട്ടെ. അവിടെയല്ലോ വീരന്മാരുടെ പരിച എറിഞ്ഞുകളഞ്ഞതു; ശൌലിന്റെ തൈലാഭിഷേകമില്ലാത്ത പരിച തന്നേ.

English: From the blood of the slain, from the fat of the mighty, the bow of Jonathan turned not back, and the sword of Saul returned not empty.

Malayalam: നിഹതന്മാരുടെ രക്തവും വീരന്മാരുടെ മേദസ്സും വിട്ടു യോനാഥാന്റെ വില്ലു പിന്തിരിഞ്ഞില്ല; ശൌലിന്റെ വാൾ വൃഥാ പോന്നതുമില്ല.

English: Saul and Jonathan were lovely and pleasant in their lives, and in their death they were not divided: they were swifter than eagles, they were stronger than lions.

Malayalam: ശൌലും യോനാഥാനും ജീവകാലത്തു പ്രീതിയും വാത്സല്യവും പൂണ്ടിരുന്നു; മരണത്തിലും അവർ വേർപിരിഞ്ഞില്ല. അവർ കഴുകനിലും വേഗവാന്മാർ. സിംഹത്തിലും വീര്യവാന്മാർ.

English: All of you daughters of Israel, weep over Saul, who clothed you in scarlet, with other delights, who put on ornaments of gold upon your apparel.

Malayalam: യിസ്രായേൽപുത്രിമാരേ, ശൌലിനെച്ചൊല്ലി കരവിൻ അവൻ നിങ്ങളെ ഭംഗിയായി രക്താംബരം ധരിപ്പിച്ചു നിങ്ങളുടെ വസ്ത്രത്തിന്മേൽ പൊന്നാഭരണം അണിയിച്ചു.

English: How are the mighty fallen in the midst of the battle! O Jonathan, you were slain in yours high places.

Malayalam: യുദ്ധമദ്ധ്യേ വീരന്മാർ പട്ടുപോയതെങ്ങിനെ! നിന്റെ ഗിരികളിൽ യോനാഥാൻ നിഹതനായല്ലോ.

English: I am distressed for you, my brother Jonathan: very pleasant have you been unto me: your love to me was wonderful, passing the love of women.

Malayalam: യോനാഥാനേ, എന്റെ സഹോദരാ, നിന്നെച്ചൊല്ലി ഞാൻ ദുഃഖിക്കുന്നു; നീ എനിക്കു അതിവത്സലൻ ആയിരുന്നു; നിൻ പ്രേമം കളത്രപ്രേമത്തിലും വിസ്മയമേറിയതു.

English: How are the mighty fallen, and the weapons of war perished!

Malayalam: വീരന്മാർ പട്ടുപോയതു എങ്ങനെ; യുദ്ധായുധങ്ങൾ നശിച്ചുപോയല്ലോ!
