- 1And when they were escaped, then they knew that the island was called Melita.
- 2And the natives people showed us no little kindness: for they kindled a fire, and received us every one, because of the present rain, and because of the cold.
- 3And when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks, and laid them on the fire, there came a viper out of the heat, and fastened on his hand.
- 4And when the barbarians saw the venomous beast hang on his hand, they said among themselves, No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he has escaped the sea, yet vengeance suffers not to live.
- 5And he shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm.
- 6Nevertheless they looked when he should have swollen, or fallen down dead suddenly: but after they had looked a great while, and saw no harm come to him, they changed their minds, and said that he was a god.
- 7In the same quarters were possessions of the chief man of the island, whose name was Publius; who received us, and lodged us three days courteously.
- 8And it came to pass, that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and of a dysentery: to whom Paul entered in, and prayed, and laid his hands on him, and healed him.
- 9So when this was done, others also, which had diseases in the island, came, and were healed:
- 10Who also honoured us with many honours; and when we departed, they laded us with such things as were necessary.
- 11And after three months we departed in a ship of Alexandria, which had wintered in the isle, whose sign was Castor and Pollux.
- 12And landing at Syracuse, we tarried there three days.
- 13And from thence we fetched a compass, and came to Rhegium: and after one day the south wind blew, and we came the next day to Puteoli:
- 14Where we found brethren, and were desired to tarry with them seven days: and so we went toward Rome.
- 15And from thence, when the brethren heard of us, they came to meet us as far as Appii forum, and The three taverns: whom when Paul saw, he thanked God, and took courage.
- 16And when we came to Rome, the centurion delivered the prisoners to the captain of the guard: but Paul was suffered to dwell by himself with a soldier that kept him.
- 17And it came to pass, that after three days Paul called the chief of the Jews together: and when they were come together, he said unto them, Men and brethren, though I have committed nothing against the people, or customs of our fathers, yet was I delivered prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans.
- 18Who, when they had examined me, would have let me go, because there was no cause of death in me.
- 19But when the Jews spoke against it, I was constrained to appeal unto Caesar; not that I had ought to accuse my nation of.
- 20For this cause therefore have I called for you, to see you, and to speak with you: because that for the hope of Israel I am bound with this chain.
- 21And they said unto him, We neither received letters out of Judaea concerning you, neither any of the brethren that came showed or spoke any harm of you.
- 22But we desire to hear of you what you think: for as concerning this sect, we know that every where it is spoken against.
- 23And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening.
- 24And some believed the things which were spoken, and some believed not.
- 25And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one word, Well spoke the Holy Spirit by Isaiah the prophet unto our fathers,
- 26Saying, Go unto this people, and say, Hearing all of you shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing all of you shall see, and not perceive:
- 27For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.
- 28Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and that they will hear it.
- 29And when he had said these words, the Jews departed, and had great reasoning among themselves.
- 30And Paul dwelt two whole years in his own hired house, and received all that came in unto him,
- 31Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him.

- 1രക്ഷപ്പെട്ടശേഷം ദ്വീപിന്റെ പേർ മെലിത്ത എന്നു ഞങ്ങൾ ഗ്രഹിച്ചു.
- 2അവിടത്തെ ബർബരന്മാർ ഞങ്ങൾക്കു അസാധാരണ ദയ കാണിച്ചു മഴയും ശീതവും നിമിത്തം തീ കൂട്ടി ഞങ്ങളെ ഒക്കെയും കൈക്കൊണ്ടു.
- 3പൌലൊസ് കുറെ വിറകു പെറുക്കി തീയിൽ ഇട്ടപ്പൊൾ ഒരു അണലി ചൂടുനിമിത്തം പുറപ്പെട്ടു അവന്റെ കൈക്കു പറ്റി.
- 4ആ ജന്തു അവന്റെ കൈമേൽ തൂങ്ങുന്നതു ബർബരന്മാർ കണ്ടപ്പോൾ: ഈ മനുഷ്യൻ ഒരു കുലപാതകൻ സംശയമില്ല; കടലിലൽ നിന്നു രക്ഷപ്പെട്ടിട്ടും നീതിദേവി അവനെ ജീവിച്ചിരിപ്പാൻ സമ്മതിക്കുന്നില്ല എന്നു തമ്മിൽ പറഞ്ഞു.
- 5അവനോ ആ ജന്തുവിനെ തീയിൽ കുടഞ്ഞു കളഞ്ഞു, ദോഷം ഒന്നും പറ്റിയില്ല.
- 6അവൻ വീർക്കുകയോ പെട്ടെന്നു ചത്തു വീഴുകയോ ചെയ്യും എന്നു വെച്ചു അവർ കാത്തുനിന്നു; വളരെ നേരം കാത്തുനിന്നിട്ടും അവന്നു ആപത്തു ഒന്നും ഭവിക്കുന്നില്ല എന്നു കണ്ടു മനസ്സു മാറി അവൻ ഒരു ദേവൻ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
- 7ആ സ്ഥലത്തിന്റെ സമീപത്തു പുബ്ളിയൊസ് എന്ന ദ്വീപുപ്രമാണിക്കു ഒരു ജന്മഭൂമി ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവൻ ഞങ്ങളെ ചേർത്തു മൂന്നു ദിവസം ആദരവോടെ അതിഥിസൽക്കാരം ചെയ്തു.
- 8പുബ്ളിയൊസിന്റെ അപ്പൻ പനിയും അതിസാരവും പിടിച്ചു കിടപ്പായിരുന്നു. പൌലൊസ് അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ അകത്തു ചെന്നു പ്രാർത്ഥിച്ചു അവന്റെമേൽ കൈവെച്ചു സൌഖ്യം വരുത്തി.
- 9ഇതു സംഭവിച്ചശേഷം ദ്വീപിലെ മറ്റു ദീനക്കാരും വന്നു സൌഖ്യം പ്രാപിച്ചു.
- 10അവരും ഏറിയ സമ്മാനം തന്നു ഞങ്ങളെ മാനിച്ചു; ഞങ്ങൾ കപ്പൽ കയറുന്ന സമയം ആവശ്യമുള്ളതു കയറ്റിത്തന്നു.
- 11മൂന്നു മാസം കഴിഞ്ഞശേഷം ആ ദ്വീപിൽ ശീതകാലം കഴിച്ചു കിടന്നിരുന്ന അശ്വനി ചിഹ്നമുള്ളോരു അലെക്സന്ത്രിയകപ്പലിൽ ഞങ്ങൾ കയറി പുറപ്പെട്ടു,
- 12സുറക്കൂസയിൽ കരെക്കിറിങ്ങി മൂന്നു നാൾ പാർത്തു; അവിടെ നിന്നു ചുറ്റി ഓടി രേഗ്യൊനിൽ എത്തി.
- 13ഒരു ദിവസം കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു തെക്കങ്കാറ്റു അടിച്ചതിനാൽ പിറ്റേന്നു പുത്യൊലിയിൽ എത്തി.
- 14അവിടെ സഹോദരന്മാരെ കണ്ടു തങ്ങളോടു കൂടെ ഏഴു നാൾ താമസിക്കേണം എന്നു അവൻ അപേക്ഷിച്ചു; പിന്നെ ഞങ്ങൾ റോമയിൽ എത്തി.
- 15അവിടത്തെ സഹോദരന്മാർ ഞങ്ങളുടെ വർത്തമാനം കേട്ടിട്ടു അപ്യപുരവും ത്രിമണ്ഡപവും വരെ ഞങ്ങളെ എതിരേറ്റു വന്നു; അവരെ കണ്ടിട്ടു പൌലൊസ് ദൈവത്തെ വാഴ്ത്തി ധൈര്യം പ്രാപിച്ചു.
- 16റോമയിൽ എത്തിയശേഷം തനിക്കു കാവലായ പടയാളിയോടുകൂടെ വേറിട്ടു പാർപ്പാൻ പൌലൊസിന്നു അനുവാദം കിട്ടി.
- 17മൂന്നു ദിവസം കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു അവൻ യെഹൂദന്മാരിൽ പ്രധാനികളായവരെ വിളിപ്പിച്ചു. അവർ വന്നുകൂടിയപ്പോൾ അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞതു: സഹോദരന്മാരേ, ഞാൻ ജനത്തിന്നോ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ ആചാരങ്ങൾക്കോ വിരോധം ഒന്നും ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ലാതിരിക്കെ എന്നെ യെരൂശലേമിൽനിന്നു ബദ്ധനായി റോമക്കാരുടെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിച്ചു.
- 18അവർ വിസ്തരിച്ചാറെ മരണയോഗ്യമായതു ഒന്നും എന്നിൽ കാണായ്കയാൽ എന്നെ വിട്ടയപ്പാൻ അവർക്കു മനസുണ്ടായിരുന്നു
- 19എന്നാൽ യെഹൂദന്മാർ എതിർപറകയാൽ ഞാൻ കൈസരെ അഭയം ചൊല്ലേണ്ടിവന്നു; എന്റെ ജാതിയുടെ നേരെ അന്യായം ബോധിപ്പിപ്പാൻ എനിക്കു യാതൊന്നും ഉണ്ടായിട്ടല്ലതാനും.
- 20ഇതു ഹേതുവായി നിങ്ങളെ കണ്ടു സംസാരിക്കേണം എന്നുവെച്ചു ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളെ വിളിപ്പിച്ചു. യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ പ്രത്യാശനിമിത്തം ആകുന്നു ഞാൻ ഈ ചങ്ങല ചുമക്കുന്നതു.
- 21അവർ അവനോടു; നിന്റെ സംഗതിക്കു യെഹൂദ്യയിൽ നിന്നു ഞങ്ങൾക്കു എഴുത്തു വരികയോ സഹോദരന്മാരിൽ ആരും വന്നു നിന്നെക്കൊണ്ടു യാതൊരു ദോഷവുംപറകയോ ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല.
- 22എങ്കിലും ഈ മതഭേദത്തിന്നു എല്ലായിടത്തും വിരോധം പറയുന്നു എന്നു ഞങ്ങൾ അറിയുന്നതിനാൽ നിന്റെ മതം ഇന്നതു എന്നു നീ തന്നേ പറഞ്ഞുകേൾപ്പാൻ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
- 23ഒരു ദിവസം നിശ്ചയിച്ചിട്ടു പലരും അവന്റെ പാർപ്പിടത്തിൽ അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു; അവരോടു അവൻ ദൈവരാജ്യത്തിന്നു സാക്ഷ്യം പറഞ്ഞു മോശെയുടെ ന്യായപ്രമാണവും പ്രവാചകപുസ്തകങ്ങളും ആധാരമാക്കി യേശുവിനെക്കുറിച്ചു അവർക്കു ബോധം വരുമാറു രാവിലെ തുടങ്ങി സന്ധ്യവരെ വിവരിച്ചു.
- 24അവൻ പറഞ്ഞതു ചിലർ സമ്മതിച്ചു; ചിലർ വിശ്വസിച്ചില്ല.
- 25അവർ തമ്മിൽ യോജിക്കാതെ പിരിഞ്ഞുപോകുമ്പോൾ പൌലൊസ് അവരോടു ഒരു വാക്കു പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാൽ:
- 26“നിങ്ങൾ ചെവികൊണ്ടു കേട്ടിട്ടും ഗ്രഹിക്കാതിരിക്കും; കണ്ണുകൊണ്ടു കണ്ടിട്ടും കാണാതിരിക്കും; കണ്ണുകൊണ്ടു കാണാതെയും ചെവികൊണ്ടു കേൾക്കാതെയും ഹൃദയംകൊണ്ടു ഗ്രഹിച്ചു മനന്തിരിയാതെയും.
- 27ഞാൻ അവരെ സൌഖ്യമാക്കാതെയും ഇരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഈ ജനത്തിന്റെ ഹൃദയം തടിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. അവരുടെ ചെവി കേൾപ്പാൻ മന്ദമായിരിക്കുന്നു; അവരുടെ കണ്ണു അടെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ഈ ജനത്തിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ പോയി പറക” എന്നിങ്ങനെ പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവു യെശയ്യാപ്രവാചകൻ മുഖാന്തരം നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടു പറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നതു ശരി തന്നേ.
- 28ആകയാൽ ദൈവം തന്റെ ഈ രക്ഷ ജാതികൾക്കു അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അവർ കേൾക്കും എന്നു നിങ്ങൾ അറിഞ്ഞുകൊൾവിൻ.
- 29അവൻ കൂലിക്കു വാങ്ങിയ വീട്ടിൽ രണ്ടു സംവത്സരം മുഴുവൻ പാർത്തു, തന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വരുന്നവരെ ഒക്കെയും കൈക്കൊണ്ടു
- 30പൂർണ്ണ പ്രാഗത്ഭ്യത്തോടെ വിഘ്നംകൂടാതെ ദൈവരാജ്യം പ്രസംഗിച്ചും കർത്താവായ യേശുക്രിസ്തുവിനെക്കുറിച്ചു ഉപദേശിച്ചും പോന്നു.
