- 1These are the words of the covenant, which the LORD commanded Moses to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab, beside the covenant which he made with them in Horeb.
- 2And Moses called unto all Israel, and said unto them, All of you have seen all that the LORD did before your eyes in the land of Egypt unto Pharaoh, and unto all his servants, and unto all his land;
- 3The great temptations which yours eyes have seen, the signs, and those great miracles:
- 4Yet the LORD has not given you an heart to perceive, and eyes to see, and ears to hear, unto this day.
- 5And I have led you forty years in the wilderness: your clothes are not becoming old upon you, and your shoe is not becoming old upon your foot.
- 6All of you have not eaten bread, neither have all of you drunk wine or strong drink: that all of you might know that I am the LORD your God.
- 7And when all of you came unto this place, Sihon the king of Heshbon, and Og the king of Bashan, came out against us unto battle, and we stroke them:
- 8And we took their land, and gave it for an inheritance unto the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to the half tribe of Manasseh.
- 9Keep therefore the words of this covenant, and do them, that all of you may prosper in all that all of you do.
- 10All of you stand this day all of you before the LORD your God; your captains of your tribes, your elders, and your officers, with all the men of Israel,
- 11Your little ones, your wives, and your stranger that is in your camp, from the hewer of your wood unto the drawer of your water:
- 12That you should enter into covenant with the LORD your God, and into his oath, which the LORD your God makes with you this day:
- 13That he may establish you to day for a people unto himself, and that he may be unto you a God, as he has said unto you, and as he has sworn unto your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.
- 14Neither with you only do I make this covenant and this oath;
- 15But with him that stands here with us this day before the LORD our God, and also with him that is not here with us this day:
- 16(For all of you know how we have dwelt in the land of Egypt; and how we came through the nations which all of you passed by;
- 17And all of you have seen their abominations, and their idols, wood and stone, silver and gold, which were among them:)
- 18Lest there should be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe, whose heart turns away this day from the LORD our God, to go and serve the gods of these nations; lest there should be among you a root that bears gall and wormwood;
- 19And it come to pass, when he hears the words of this curse, that he bless himself in his heart, saying, I shall have peace, though I walk in the imagination of mine heart, to add drunkenness to thirst:
- 20The LORD will not spare him, but then the anger of the LORD and his jealousy shall smoke against that man, and all the curses that are written in this book shall lie upon him, and the LORD shall blot out his name from under heaven.
- 21And the LORD shall separate him unto evil out of all the tribes of Israel, according to all the curses of the covenant that are written in this book of the law:
- 22So that the generation to come of your children that shall rise up after you, and the stranger that shall come from a far land, shall say, when they see the plagues of that land, and the sicknesses which the LORD has laid upon it;
- 23And that the whole land thereof is brimstone, and salt, and burning, that it is not sown, nor bears, nor any grass grows therein, like the overthrow of Sodom, and Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboim, which the LORD overthrew in his anger, and in his wrath:
- 24Even all nations shall say, Wherefore has the LORD done thus unto this land? what means the heat of this great anger?
- 25Then men shall say, Because they have forsaken the covenant of the LORD God of their fathers, which he made with them when he brought them forth out of the land of Egypt:
- 26For they went and served other gods, and worshipped them, gods whom they knew not, and whom he had not given unto them:
- 27And the anger of the LORD was kindled against this land, to bring upon it all the curses that are written in this book:
- 28And the LORD rooted them out of their land in anger, and in wrath, and in great indignation, and cast them into another land, as it is this day.
- 29The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.

- 1മോശെ എല്ലായിസ്രയേലിനെയും വിളിച്ചുകൂട്ടി പറഞ്ഞതു എന്തെന്നാൽ: യഹോവ മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തുവെച്ചു നിങ്ങൾ കാൺകെ ഫറവോനോടും അവന്റെ സകലഭൃത്യന്മാരോടും അവന്റെ സർവ്വദേശത്തോടും ചെയ്തതു ഒക്കെയും നിങ്ങൾ കണ്ടുവല്ലോ;
- 2നിങ്ങൾ കണ്ണാലെ കണ്ട വലിയ പരീക്ഷകളും അടയാളങ്ങളും മഹാത്ഭുതങ്ങളും തന്നേ.
- 3എങ്കിലും തിരിച്ചറിയുന്ന ഹൃദയവും കാണുന്ന കണ്ണും കേൾക്കുന്ന ചെവിയും യഹോവ നിങ്ങൾക്കു ഇന്നുവരെയും തന്നിട്ടില്ല.
- 4ഞാൻ നാല്പതു സംവത്സരം നിങ്ങളെ മരുഭൂമിയിൽ നടത്തി; നിങ്ങൾ ഉടുത്തിരുന്ന വസ്ത്രം ജീർണ്ണിച്ചിട്ടില്ല; കാലിലെ ചെരിപ്പു പഴകീട്ടുമില്ല.
- 5യഹോവയായ ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവം എന്നു നിങ്ങൾ അറിയേണ്ടതിന്നു നിങ്ങൾ അപ്പം തിന്നിട്ടില്ല, വീഞ്ഞും മദ്യവും കുടിച്ചിട്ടുമില്ല.
- 6നിങ്ങൾ ഈ സ്ഥലത്തു വന്നപ്പോൾ ഹെശ്ബോൻ രാജാവായ സീഹോനും ബാശാൻ രാജാവായ ഓഗും നമ്മുടെ നേരെ യുദ്ധത്തിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു വന്നു.
- 7എന്നാറെ നാം അവരെ തോല്പിച്ചു, അവരുടെ രാജ്യം പിടിച്ചു രൂബേന്യർക്കും ഗാദ്യർക്കും മനശ്ശെയുടെ പാതിഗോത്രത്തിന്നും അവകാശമായി കൊടുത്തു.
- 8ആകയാൽ നിങ്ങൾ ചെയ്യുന്നതു ഒക്കെയും സാധിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഈ നിയമത്തിന്റെ വചനങ്ങളെ പ്രമാണിച്ചു നടപ്പിൻ.
- 9ഇന്നു നിങ്ങളുടെ ഗോത്രത്തലവന്മാരും മൂപ്പന്മാരും പ്രമാണികളും യിസ്രായേൽപുരുഷന്മാരൊക്കെയും തന്നേ.
- 10നിങ്ങളുടെ കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങൾ, ഭാര്യമാർ, നിന്റെ പാളയത്തിൽ വിറകു കീറുകയും വെള്ളം കോരുകയും ചെയ്യുന്ന പരദേശി എന്നിങ്ങനെ എല്ലാവരും
- 11നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിന്നോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതുപോലെയും അബ്രാഹാം, യിസ്ഹാക്, യാക്കോബ് എന്ന നിന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടു അവൻ സത്യംചെയ്തതുപോലെയും ഇന്നു നിന്നെ തനിക്കു ജനമാക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും താൻ നിനക്കു ദൈവമായിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും
- 12നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ഇന്നു നിന്നോടു ചെയ്യുന്ന നിയമത്തിലും സത്യബന്ധത്തിലും പ്രവേശിപ്പാൻ അവന്റെ സന്നിധിയിൽ നില്ക്കുന്നു.
- 13ഞാൻ ഈ നിയമവും സത്യബന്ധവും ചെയ്യുന്നതു നിങ്ങളോടു മാത്രമല്ല,
- 14ഇന്നു നമ്മോടുകൂടെ നമ്മുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയിൽ നില്ക്കുന്നവരോടും ഇന്നു ഇവിടെ നമ്മോടു കൂടെ ഇല്ലാത്തവരോടും തന്നേ.
- 15നാം മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തു എങ്ങനെ പാർത്തു എന്നും നിങ്ങൾ കടന്നുപോകുന്ന ജാതികളുടെ നടുവിൽകൂടി എങ്ങനെ കടന്നു എന്നും നിങ്ങൾ അറിയുന്നുവല്ലോ.
- 16അവരുടെ മ്ളേച്ഛതകളും അവരുടെ ഇടയിൽ മരവും കല്ലും വെള്ളിയും പൊന്നും കൊണ്ടുള്ള വിഗ്രഹങ്ങളും നിങ്ങൾ കണ്ടിട്ടുണ്ടു.
- 17ആ ജാതികളുടെ ദേവന്മാരെ ചെന്നു സേവിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഇന്നു നമ്മുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ വിട്ടുമാറുവാൻ മനസ്സുള്ള യാതൊരു പുരുഷനും സ്ത്രീയും യാതൊരു കുലവും ഗോത്രവും നിങ്ങളിൽ ഉണ്ടാകരുതു; നഞ്ചും കൈപ്പുമുള്ള ഫലം കായക്കുന്ന യാതൊരുവേരും അരുതു.
- 18അങ്ങനെയുള്ളവൻ ഈ ശാപവചനങ്ങളെ കേൾക്കുമ്പോൾ: വരണ്ടതും നനവുള്ളതും ഒരുപോലെ നശിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാൻ എന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിന്റെ കാഠിന്യപ്രകാരം നടന്നാലും എനിക്കു സുഖം ഉണ്ടാകുമെന്നു പറഞ്ഞു തന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിൽ തന്നെത്താൻ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കും.
- 19അവനോടു ക്ഷമിപ്പാൻ യഹോവെക്കു മനസ്സുവരാതെ യഹോവയുടെ കോപവും തീക്ഷ്ണതയും ആ മനുഷ്യന്റെ നേരെ ജ്വലിക്കും; ഈ പുസ്തകത്തിൽ എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്ന ശാപം ഒക്കെയും അവന്റെ മേൽ വരും; യഹോവ ആകാശത്തിൻ കീഴിൽ നിന്നു അവന്റെ നാമം മായിച്ചുകളയും.
- 20ഈ ന്യായപ്രമാണപുസ്തകത്തിൽ എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്ന നിയമത്തിലെ സകലശാപങ്ങൾക്കും തക്കവണ്ണം യഹോവ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ സകലഗോത്രങ്ങളിൽനിന്നും അവനെ ദോഷത്തിന്നായി വേറുതിരിക്കും.
- 21നിങ്ങളുടെ ശേഷം ഉണ്ടാകുന്ന തലമുറയായ നിങ്ങളുടെ മക്കളും ദൂരദേശത്തുനിന്നു വരുന്ന അന്യനും ദേശത്തിലെ ബാധകളും യഹോവ അവിടെ വരുത്തിയ രോഗങ്ങളും
- 22യഹോവ തന്റെ കോപത്തിലും ക്രോധത്തിലും സോദോം, ഗൊമോര, അദമ, സെബോയീം എന്ന പട്ടണങ്ങളെ മറിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞതുപോലെ വിതയും വിളവും ഇല്ലാതെയും പുല്ലുപോലും മുളെക്കാതെയും ഗന്ധകവും ഉപ്പും കത്തിയിരിക്കുന്ന ദേശമൊക്കെയും കാണുമ്പോൾ
- 23യഹോവ ഈ ദേശത്തോടു ഇങ്ങനെ ചെയ്തതു എന്തു? ഈ മഹാക്രോധാഗ്നിയുടെ കാരണം എന്തു എന്നു സകലജാതികളും ചോദിക്കും.
- 24അതിന്നുണ്ടാകുന്ന മറുപടി എന്തെന്നാൽ: അവരുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ അവരെ മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തുനിന്നു പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചപ്പോൾ അവരോടു ചെയ്തിരുന്ന നിയമം അവർ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു;
- 25തങ്ങൾ അറികയോ തങ്ങൾക്കു നിയമിച്ചുകിട്ടുകയോ ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ലാത്ത അന്യദൈവങ്ങളെ അവർ ചെന്നു സേവിക്കയും നമസ്കരിക്കയും ചെയ്തു.
- 26അതുകൊണ്ടു ഈ പുസ്തകത്തിൽ എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്ന ശാപം ഒക്കെയും ഈ ദേശത്തിന്മേൽ വരുത്തുവാൻ തക്കവണ്ണം യഹോവയുടെ കോപം അതിന്റെ നേരെ ജ്വലിച്ചു.
- 27യഹോവ കോപത്തോടും ക്രോധത്തോടും വലിയ വെറുപ്പോടുംകൂടെ അവരെ അവരുടെ ദേശത്തുനിന്നു പറിച്ചുകളകയും ഇന്നുള്ളതുപോലെ അവരെ മറ്റൊരു ദേശത്തേക്കു തള്ളിവിടുകയും ചെയ്തു.
- 28മറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്ന കാര്യങ്ങൾ നമ്മുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവെക്കുള്ളവയത്രേ; വെളിപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നവയോ നാം ഈ ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തിന്റെ സകലവചനങ്ങളും അനുസരിച്ചുനടക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു എന്നേക്കും നമുക്കും നമ്മുടെ മക്കൾക്കും ഉള്ളവയാകുന്നു.
