Job 3

English: After this opened Job his mouth, and cursed his day.

Malayalam: അനന്തരം ഇയ്യോബ് വായി തുറന്നു തന്റെ ജന്മദിവസത്തെ ശപിച്ചു.

English: And Job spoke, and said,

Malayalam: ഇയ്യോബ് പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാൽ:

English: Let the day perish wherein I was born, and the night in which it was said, There is a male child conceived.

Malayalam: ഞാൻ ജനിച്ച ദിവസവും ഒരു ആൺ ഉല്പാദിച്ചു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞ രാത്രിയും നശിച്ചുപോകട്ടെ.

English: Let that day be darkness; let not God regard it from above, neither let the light shine upon it.

Malayalam: ആ നാൾ ഇരുണ്ടുപോകട്ടെ; മേലിൽനിന്നു ദൈവം അതിനെ കടാക്ഷിക്കരുതേ; പ്രകാശം അതിന്മേൽ ശോഭിക്കയുമരുതേ.

English: Let darkness and the shadow of death stain it; let a cloud dwell upon it; let the blackness of the day terrify it.

Malayalam: ഇരുളും അന്ധതമസ്സും അതിനെ സ്വാധീനമാക്കട്ടെ; ഒരു മേഘം അതിന്മേൽ അമരട്ടെ; പകലിനെ ഇരുട്ടുന്നതൊക്കെയും അതിനെ പേടിപ്പിക്കട്ടെ.

English: As for that night, let darkness seize upon it; let it not be joined unto the days of the year, let it not come into the number of the months.

Malayalam: ആ രാത്രിയെ കൂരിരുൾ പിടിക്കട്ടെ; അതു ആണ്ടിന്റെ നാളുകളുടെ കൂട്ടത്തിൽ സന്തോഷിക്കരുതു; മാസങ്ങളുടെ എണ്ണത്തിൽ വരികയും അരുതു.

English: Lo, let that night be solitary, let no joyful voice come therein.

Malayalam: അതേ, ആ രാത്രി മച്ചിയായിരിക്കട്ടെ; ഉല്ലാസഘോഷം അതിലുണ്ടാകരുതു.

English: Let them curse it that curse the day, who are ready to raise up their mourning.

Malayalam: മഹാസർപ്പത്തെ ഇളക്കുവാൻ സമർത്ഥരായി ദിവസത്തെ ശപിക്കുന്നവർ അതിനെ ശപിക്കട്ടെ.

English: Let the stars of the twilight thereof be dark; let it look for light, but have none; neither let it see the dawning of the day:

Malayalam: അതിന്റെ സന്ധ്യാനക്ഷത്രങ്ങൾ ഇരുണ്ടു പോകട്ടെ. അതു വെളിച്ചത്തിന്നു കാത്തിരുന്നു കിട്ടാതെ പോകട്ടെ; അതു ഉഷസ്സിന്റെ കണ്ണിമ ഒരിക്കലും കാണരുതു.

English: Because it shut not up the doors of my mother's womb, nor hid sorrow from mine eyes.

Malayalam: അതു എനിക്കു ഗർഭദ്വാരം അടെച്ചില്ലല്ലോ; എന്റെ കണ്ണിന്നു കഷ്ടം മറെച്ചില്ലല്ലോ.

English: Why died I not from the womb? why did I not give up the spirit when I came out of the belly?

Malayalam: ഞാൻ ഗർഭപാത്രത്തിൽവെച്ചു മരിക്കാഞ്ഞതെന്തു? ഉദരത്തിൽനിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടപ്പോൾ തന്നേ പ്രാണൻ പോകാതിരുന്നതെന്തു?

English: Why did the knees prevent me? or why the breasts that I should suck?

Malayalam: മുഴങ്കാൽ എന്നെ ഏറ്റുകൊണ്ടതു എന്തിനു? എനിക്കു കുടിപ്പാൻ മുല ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നതെന്തിന്നു?

English: For now should I have lain still and been quiet, I should have slept: then had I been at rest,

Malayalam: ഞാൻ ഇപ്പോൾ കിടന്നു വിശ്രമിക്കുമായിരുന്നു; ഞാൻ ഉറങ്ങി വിശ്രാന്തി പ്രാപിക്കുമായിരുന്നു.

English: With kings and counsellors of the earth, which build desolate places for themselves;

Malayalam: തങ്ങൾക്കു ഏകാന്തനിവാസങ്ങൾ പണിത ഭൂരാജാക്കന്മാരോടും മന്ത്രിമാരോടും അഥവാ,

English: Or with princes that had gold, who filled their houses with silver:

Malayalam: കനകസമ്പന്നരായി സ്വഭവനങ്ങൾ വെള്ളികൊണ്ടു നിറെച്ചുവെച്ച പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരോടും കൂടെ തന്നേ.

English: Or as an hidden untimely birth I had not been; as infants which never saw light.

Malayalam: അല്ലെങ്കിൽ, ഗർഭം അലസിപ്പോയിട്ടു കുഴിച്ചിട്ടുകളഞ്ഞ പിണ്ഡംപോലെയും വെളിച്ചം കണ്ടിട്ടില്ലാത്ത പിള്ളകളെപ്പോലെയും ഞാൻ ഇല്ലാതെ പോകുമായിരുന്നു.

English: There the wicked cease from troubling; and there the weary be at rest.

Malayalam: അവിടെ ദുർജ്ജനം ഉപദ്രവിക്കാതെയിരിക്കുന്നു; അവിടെ ക്ഷീണിച്ചു പോയവർ വിശ്രമിക്കുന്നു.

English: There the prisoners rest together; they hear not the voice of the oppressor.

Malayalam: അവിടെ ബദ്ധന്മാർ ഒരുപോലെ സുഖമായിരിക്കുന്നു; പീഡകന്റെ ശബ്ദം അവർ കേൾക്കാതിരിക്കുന്നു.

English: The small and great are there; and the servant is free from his master.

Malayalam: ചെറിയവനും വലിയവനും അവിടെ ഒരുപോലെ; ദാസന്നു യജമാനന്റെ കീഴിൽനിന്നു വിടുതൽ കിട്ടിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

English: Wherefore is light given to him that is in misery, and life unto the bitter in soul;

Malayalam: അരിഷ്ടനു പ്രകാശവും ദുഃഖിതന്മാർക്കു ജീവനും കൊടുക്കുന്നതെന്തിനു?

English: Which long for death, but it comes not; and dig for it more than for hid treasures;

Malayalam: അവർ മരണത്തിന്നായി കാത്തിരിക്കുന്നു, അതു വരുന്നില്ലതാനും; നിധിക്കായി ചെയ്യുന്നതിലുമധികം അവർ അതിന്നായി കുഴിക്കുന്നു.

English: Which rejoice exceedingly, and are glad, when they can find the grave?

Malayalam: അവർ ശവക്കുഴി കണ്ടാൽ സന്തോഷിച്ചു ഘോഷിച്ചുല്ലസിക്കും

English: Why is light given to a man whose way is hid, and whom God has hedged in?

Malayalam: വഴി മറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്ന പുരുഷന്നും ദൈവം നിരോധിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നവന്നും ജീവനെ കൊടുക്കുന്നതെന്തിനു?

English: For my sighing comes before I eat, and my roarings are poured out like the waters.

Malayalam: ഭക്ഷണത്തിന്നു മുമ്പെ എനിക്കു നെടുവീർപ്പു വരുന്നു; എന്റെ ഞരക്കം വെള്ളംപോലെ ഒഴുകുന്നു.

English: For the thing which I greatly feared has come upon me, and that which I was afraid of has come unto me.

Malayalam: ഞാൻ പേടിച്ചതു തന്നേ എനിക്കു നേരിട്ടു; ഞാൻ ഭയപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നതു എനിക്കു ഭവിച്ചു.

English: I was not in safety, neither had I rest, neither was I quiet; yet trouble came.

Malayalam: ഞാൻ സ്വസ്ഥനായില്ല, വിശ്രമിച്ചില്ല, ആശ്വസിച്ചതുമില്ല; പിന്നെയും അതിവേദന എടുക്കുന്നു.
