Proverbs 22

English: A GOOD name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.

Malayalam: അനവധിസമ്പത്തിലും സൽകീർത്തിയും വെള്ളിയിലും പൊന്നിലും കൃപയും നല്ലതു.

English: The rich and poor meet together: the LORD is the maker of them all.

Malayalam: ധനവാനും ദരിദ്രനും തമ്മിൽ കാണുന്നു; അവരെ ഒക്കെയും ഉണ്ടാക്കിയവൻ യഹോവ തന്നേ.

English: A prudent man forsees the evil, and hides himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.

Malayalam: വിവേകമുള്ളവൻ അനർത്ഥം കണ്ടു ഒളിച്ചുകൊള്ളുന്നു; അല്പബുദ്ധികളോ നേരെ ചെന്നു ചേതപ്പെടുന്നു.

English: By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and life.

Malayalam: താഴ്മെക്കും യഹോവഭക്തിക്കും ഉള്ള പ്രതിഫലം ധനവും മാനവും ജീവനും ആകുന്നു.

English: Thorns and snares are in the way of the perverse: he that does keep his soul shall be far from them.

Malayalam: വക്രന്റെ വഴിയിൽ മുള്ളും കുടുക്കും ഉണ്ടു; തന്റെ പ്രാണനെ സൂക്ഷിക്കുന്നവൻ അവയോടു അകന്നിരിക്കട്ടെ.

English: Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Malayalam: ബാലൻ നടക്കേണ്ടുന്ന വഴിയിൽ അവനെ അഭ്യസിപ്പിക്ക; അവൻ വൃദ്ധനായാലും അതു വിട്ടുമാറുകയില്ല.

English: The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.

Malayalam: ധനവാൻ ദരിദ്രന്മാരെ ഭരിക്കുന്നു; കടം മേടിക്കുന്നവൻ കടം കൊടുക്കുന്നവന്നു ദാസൻ.

English: He that sows iniquity shall reap vanity: and the rod of his anger shall fail.

Malayalam: നീതികേടു വിതെക്കുന്നവൻ ആപത്തു കൊയ്യും; അവന്റെ കോപത്തിന്റെ വടി ഇല്ലാതെയാകും.

English: He that has a bountiful eye shall be blessed; for he gives of his bread to the poor.

Malayalam: ദയാകടാക്ഷമുള്ളവൻ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെടും; അവൻ തന്റെ ആഹാരത്തിൽനിന്നു അഗതിക്കു കൊടുക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

English: Cast out the scorner, and contention shall go out; yea, strife and reproach shall cease.

Malayalam: പരിഹാസിയെ നീക്കിക്കളക; അപ്പോൾ പിണക്കം പോയ്ക്കൊള്ളും; കലഹവും നിന്ദയും നിന്നുപോകും.

English: He that loves pureness of heart, for the grace of his lips the king shall be his friend.

Malayalam: ഹൃദയശുദ്ധി ഇഷ്ടപ്പെടുന്നവന്നു അധരലാവണ്യം ഉണ്ടു; രാജാവു അവന്റെ സ്നേഹിതൻ.

English: The eyes of the LORD preserve knowledge, and he overthrows the words of the transgressor.

Malayalam: യഹോവയുടെ കണ്ണു പരിജ്ഞാനമുള്ളവനെ കാക്കുന്നു; ദ്രോഹികളുടെ വാക്കോ അവൻ മറിച്ചുകളയുന്നു.

English: The slothful man says, There is a lion without, I shall be slain in the streets.

Malayalam: വെളിയിൽ സിംഹം ഉണ്ടു, വീഥിയിൽ എനിക്കു ജീവഹാനി വരും എന്നു മടിയൻ പറയുന്നു.

English: The mouth of strange women is a deep pit: he that is abhorred of the LORD shall fall therein.

Malayalam: പരസ്ത്രീയുടെ വായ് ആഴമുള്ള കുഴി ആകുന്നു; യഹോവയാൽ ത്യജിക്കപ്പെട്ടവൻ അതിൽ വീഴും.

English: Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.

Malayalam: ബാലന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തോടു ഭോഷത്വം പറ്റിയിരിക്കുന്നു; ശിക്ഷെക്കുള്ള വടി അതിനെ അവനിൽ നിന്നു അകറ്റിക്കളയും.

English: He that oppresses the poor to increase his riches, and he that gives to the rich, shall surely come to lack.

Malayalam: ആദായം ഉണ്ടാക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു എളിയവനെ പീഡിപ്പിക്കുന്നവനും ധനവാന്നു കൊടുക്കുന്നവനും മുട്ടുള്ളവനായ്തീരും.

English: Bow down yours ear, and hear the words of the wise, and apply yours heart unto my knowledge.

Malayalam: ജ്ഞാനികളുടെ വചനങ്ങളെ ചെവിചായിച്ചു കേൾക്കുക; എന്റെ പരിജ്ഞാനത്തിന്നു മനസ്സുവെക്കുക.

English: For it is a pleasant thing if you keep them within you; they shall likewise be fitted in your lips.

Malayalam: അവയെ നിന്റെ ഉള്ളിൽ സൂക്ഷിക്കുന്നതും നിന്റെ അധരങ്ങളിൽ അവ ഒക്കെയും ഉറെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതും മനോഹരം.

English: That your trust may be in the LORD, I have made known to you this day, even to you.

Malayalam: നിന്റെ ആശ്രയം യഹോവയിൽ ആയിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാൻ ഇന്നു നിന്നോടു, നിന്നോടു തന്നേ, ഉപദേശിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

English: Have not I written to you excellent things in counsels and knowledge,

Malayalam: നിന്നെ അയച്ചവർക്കും നീ നേരുള്ള മറുപടി കൊണ്ടുപോകേണ്ടതിന്നു നിനക്കു നേരുള്ള മറുപടിയുടെ നിശ്ചയം അറിയിച്ചുതരുവാൻ

English: That I might make you know the certainty of the words of truth; that you might answer the words of truth to them that send unto you?

Malayalam: ആലോചനയും പരിജ്ഞാനവും അടങ്ങിയ സാരസംഗതികളെ ഞാൻ നിനക്കു എഴുതീട്ടുണ്ടല്ലോ.

English: Rob not the poor, because he is poor: neither oppress the afflicted in the gate:

Malayalam: എളിയവനോടു അവൻ എളിയവനാകകൊണ്ടു കവർച്ച ചെയ്യരുതു; അരിഷ്ടനെ പടിവാതിൽക്കൽവെച്ചു പീഡിപ്പിക്കയും അരുതു.

English: For the LORD will plead their cause, and spoil the soul of those that spoiled them.

Malayalam: യഹോവ അവരുടെ വ്യവഹാരം നടത്തും; അവരെ കൊള്ളയിട്ടവരുടെ ജീവനെ കൊള്ളയിടും.

English: Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man you shall not go:

Malayalam: കോപശീലനോടു സഖിത്വമരുതു; ക്രോധമുള്ള മനുഷ്യനോടുകൂടെ നടക്കയും അരുതു.

English: Lest you learn his ways, and get a snare to your soul.

Malayalam: നീ അവന്റെ വഴികളെ പഠിപ്പാനും നിന്റെ പ്രാണൻ കണിയിൽ അകപ്പെടുവാനും സംഗതി വരരുതു.

English: Be not you one of them that shake hands, or of them that are sureties for debts.

Malayalam: നീ കയ്യടിക്കുന്നവരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തിലും കടത്തിന്നു ജാമ്യം നില്ക്കുന്നവരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തിലും ആയ്പോകരുതു.

English: If you have nothing to pay, why should he take away your bed from under you?

Malayalam: വീട്ടുവാൻ നിനക്കു വകയില്ലാതെ വന്നിട്ടു നിന്റെ കീഴിൽനിന്നു നിന്റെ മെത്ത എടുത്തുകളവാൻ ഇടവരുത്തുന്നതു എന്തിനു?

English: Remove not the ancient landmark, which your fathers have set.

Malayalam: നിന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാർ ഇട്ടിരിക്കുന്ന പണ്ടത്തെ അതിർ നീ മാറ്റരുതു.

English: See you a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.

Malayalam: പ്രവൃത്തിയിൽ സാമർത്ഥ്യമുള്ള പുരുഷനെ നീ കാണുന്നുവോ? അവൻ രാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ മുമ്പിൽ നില്ക്കും; നീചന്മാരുടെ മുമ്പിൽ അവൻ നിൽക്കയില്ല.
